New Series Order

Once upon a time when I was still young and inexperienced as a writer and sat down to write my first regency romance novel, I simply didn't know any better.....

Of course, I structured my first novel, Forgotten & Remembered; however, I had no idea what went into series writing. Back in 2012, I wanted to write a three-book series, Forgotten & Remembered, Cursed & Cherished and Despised & Desired. But as they say, the best things happen when you're busy making other plans.

Don't get me wrong; I love how the series developed. I love all those many stories and it was such a joy writing them. Still, all those wonderful supporting characters that claimed their own story kind of messed with my original plan.

While writing book 2 (Cursed & Cherished), I met Henrietta. She is very bitter and suspicious and angry (let's face it, few people like her in book 2 - I know I didn't). Nevertheless, I felt I had to give her her own story. I felt compelled to show her side of the story, the reasons for her hard exterior, her mistrust, and anger. So, this is how Abandoned & Protected got added to the plan.

Writing Despised & Desired, got me thinking about Charlotte. I never planned on giving Charlotte her own book because−let's be honest−she is the villain in Despised & Desired. Still, I couldn't just give up on her. I couldn't stop thinking about the path that led her to that point, about all that had happened to her. So, that was why yet another book (Ruined & Redeemed) was added.

And the more books I wrote, the more characters I got to know, and the more stories snuck into my mind when I wasn't looking, stories that needed to be told. Well, that's why we are at book 16 right now…and so far there is no end in sight.

I know some of you are anxiously awaiting Henri's and Juliet's story. And don't worry, I will get to it. However, publishing book 16 made me realize how big this series has grown. By now, we are far beyond my initial three-book plan, which is why I feel the need to get a better order into the series.

Well, as I said, chaos is not my kind of thing - you know! I'm all for structure!

So, long story short, I split the series into three parts so that the narrative threads are easier to follow:

I'm so sorry for all of you who are in the middle of a book, in the middle of the old order, and are now hopelessly confused!

Still, I'm convinced that you'll enjoy the new follow up from each book to the next! And if you have any trouble, you can check the updated series graph here! You can find a detailed list of all characters and their appearances in the other sequels!

  1. I think you should switch Tamed and Unleashed with Banished and Welcomed.

Unless I am getting very mixed up, Moira convinces Cormag to send Garrett after the young couple who was eloping to Gretna Green where he found and wed Claudia.

If I’m wrong, I apologize for telling you your books and business. I love your books and own every one and read each more than once.

  2. Hi, I have all the books in all series, and have read them in series order. but on at least one occasion reading them this way has meant I’ve missed them. for example I read Madeline and Dereks book where Elsbeth was already married, but her book is later in series order.
Is the anywhere I can find a reading order please?

  3. In your blog I find a graph depicting the “Family” Tree for Loves Second Chances series, but try as I may I cannot read the ‘covers’. Is there a way to get a larger and readable version?

    • Hi Wallis,

All titles and main characters are listed below the image of the family tree. You can also click on the tab BOOKS on my website and click on the individual series, and individual books.
      I hope that helps!

      All the best,

      Bree

  4. Is there a book or will there be a future book about the character ob Blair McDrummond from the Highland series? I just finished reading Banished and Welcomed out of order from the series.

    • Truth be told, I’m thinking of featuring a number of children from the Love’s Second Chance series in a separate one set about 20 years after their parents found their happily-ever-after. And, yes, Blair will be one of them! First, however, I’ll need to finish the Love’s Second Chance series. So, stay tuned!

  5. Hello!
I’ve only just discovered you 2 weeks ago and have already read 7 of your books. I’ve loved them all! I just finished “Ruined and Redeemed: The Earl’s Fallen Wife”. I was disappointed to see Oliver’s story was suggested next (which I will read) when I truly wanted to see Victoria find her true love! Could you tell me where I might find her continuing story? Or hasn’t that been written yet?

I’m also looking forward to the next book in the Wicked Whickerton series. Those were the first 5 books I enjoyed.
Thanks for providing such riveting stories!

  6. Hi Bree,

In one of your books at the end you said Ian’s story would come out in 2022. Is there an ETA on the date it will publish?

  7. I agree with Sarah in her comment. Anyone reading the series would do well to follow the dates in each book as to when each story takes place, and not try to keep in line with the characters. There is to much cross-over and timelines don’t match up if you just follow the characters. Or just close your mind to the longer story arc and just read each HEA as is own complete story. IMO They are lovely stories anyway! 😊
